Got back via 3+ hour bus ride from the PRC earlier this evening. Currently, I am cleaning my room and waiting for people to pack so we can eat dinner + LKF/TST/Wan Chai or something. I’m wearing my last pair of clean underwear and I’m gonna have to do some drunken laundrying once i get back. oooooh some people are so hard to say bye to =’[.

Skittles Vodka (with instructions)
1. Separate your skittles into colours
2. Mix 60 skittles and approx. 180mL vodka in empty water bottles
3. Shake the bottles well and leave them overnight.
4. Lots of white residue will be left, filter this out using a coffee filter or similar. Depending how viscous it is you may have to repeat this step.
5. Chill (in freezer) and serve.… I have to try this when I get back to UCI!

Oh sad times
There’s something sitting in the same position for two hours in a classroom filled with students who have their heads buried in their papers and franctically scribbling into their bluebooks that makes me panic a little. It makes me feel like I’m not working hard enough/ writing/ thinking fast enough cuz I’m here calmly collecting my thoughts, and trying to regurgitate one semester’s worth of information.. this is just mentally draining. The fact that I know I can get away with being lazy gives me little motivation to fix my bad habits. every 20 or so minutes I took the time to stop writing just to think about this. why am i so goddamn lazy? I know the answer to this essay question, I know what to write about, but the thought of having to formulate a comprehensible paragraph is in itself tiring enough. JUST THE THOUGHT OF IT. I’d much rather just sit here and daydream instead.

Coursework
After rewriting my thesis three times, i finally finished my first research paper. It’s on Buddhism and chinese influences in Southeast Asia, and it is pure BS. I think the fact that I know I can get away with it leaves me less motivated to do anything about my laziness. sighhhh. Anyway, I’ve got another paper to write on neoclassical economics now. then I’ve got to study for Foreign Trade and Investment in China. Then I have another final for Economic Development of China. Econ electives at HKU are more on empirical analysis, whereas at UCI they’re more theoretical…
SOO far the plan is to arrive at Shenzen airport at around 1am, where we will sleep for a few hours before getting a plane to Xi’an for a day, then to Beijing that Night. Then it’s off to Shanghai and Guangzhou sometime after, we haven’t planned it yet. hahahhahaa hooray for last minute travel plans. It’s we’re all absorbed in our studies.
Then it’s back to Hong Kong for one last round of LKF with some people before they go back to their own countries… I’m happy I had the opportunity to meet some amazing people.
